House of The Future | House of The Future Competition

The concept explores the relationship between traditional Emirati families and their everyday environment. Historically,

nature served as a sustainable resource for homeowners, shaping how homes were built and lived in. Our idea was

to reinterpret these past practices—using natural systems, passive strategies, and cultural principles—to create a

contemporary home that remains environmentally responsive and deeply connected to its heritage.

The concept explores using modern technology—such as 3D printing—to create future homes inspired by traditional forms

that support residential privacy. Privacy is understood as the ability for occupants to control access to their personal space,

protecting them from outside intrusion while still sharing a central courtyard. Key elements of privacy include controlling

views through window coverings, managing sunlight, and incorporating soundproofing.
